Welcome to Gnaw the Ledge…

the future present beckons us to rethink our approach. we acknowledge the bleak outlook and lose hope. fear takes over and instead of moving forward with life, we stagnate, and choose to settle for what is secure and comfortable. at least in my own life, i have come to realize that action can be those little things that we choose to do to break away from the mundane, dreary, complacency. we stand together looking into the abyss and instead of worrying about falling….fearing the future which has yet to happen….go ahead and jump.  with full acceptance of what is to come. with that moment of revelation comes growth. here is something to chew on for the peaceful warriors seeking a new perspective. gnaw the ledge.

Challenging the traditional approach to solving urban problems, which focuses service providers and funding agencies on the needs and deficiencies of neighborhoods, Kretzmann and McKnight have demonstrated that community assets are key building blocks in sustainable urban and rural community revitalization efforts. These community assets include:

    * the skills of local residents
    * the power of local associations
    * the resources of public, private and non-profit institutions
    * the physical and economic resources of local places.
