Slow Ride

Following on the heels of dystopian architecture, just had to share this informative article on the future of transportation in Los Angeles by blogger Alexander Lew.  As he writes:

Los Angeles’ population will grow by 2.4 million by 2030, resulting in a total of 7 million cars on the roads each day. Already, congestion in Los Angeles is one of the worst in the nation, and the city’s rapid transit surely does not have enough connections or lines to serve the entire city or region.

And I thought traffic was already bad.  It seems that the MTA is trying to implement several things that might alleviate the gridlock by funding more carpool lanes, a larger system of bus lines, and an expansion of the rail system.

I am thinking that aside from considering a hybrid as my next vehicle, a proper investment for the future would either be for a helicopter or a teleportation device (sans flies).
